4. Do you cater lunch meetings?

Yes! We are available to cater your office lunch meetings. Please call or email us to discuss menu options and other details: Phone: (305) 586-4077 or Email: info@TheSpecialMiami.com.

5. How big are the portions?

A wise old saying says the portion for you meals should be the amount you can hold in the palm of your hands when you hold them together to form a bowl. This is about the natural size of your stomach when it is empty and should be the amount that when eating healthy food signals to your body that you are full.

We want to provide you with a healthy portion that should be adequately nourishing to your body and make you feel satisfied after your meal. Our meal containers are 20 oz.

You will always get a side dish which will compliment the meal. Usually it is fruit, soup or a dessert. These portions are 8 oz.

6. What if I have allergies or don't eat certain things?

We do accommodate to a certain degree, but you will have to call and talk to the chef about the specifics. 305 586 4077 - Chef Andres

7. Why do I only see tomorrow's lunch?

You have to order the day before by 8 pm. All our meals are made from scratch, fresh that very morning and it takes a certain amount of planning to allow us to do so, maintaining a high standard of quality and freshness every single day. Try it and you will discover the benefits of planning ahead!

8. Can I order today's lunch?

You can always call and ask, but it is not always possible. An additional $1 will be added to the price of your meal that day.

9. Are your meals vegan?

Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday's meals can always be made vegan. If you sign up on our email list you can select that you only want to receive these menus. We are hoping to offer a complete vegan menu in the coming months as we have gotten plenty of requests for this.

10. What about your use of oils, dairy, wheat and sugar?

We always prepare meals that are fresh, natural and rich in whole grains, fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds. There are never any additives or preservatives in our meals. We never prepare meat of any sort and limit our use of animal protein to European imported dairy products and Organic eggs. We stay away from the use of trans-fats and saturated fats using mostly extra virgin olive oil and in very moderated amounts. We use whole grains instead of refined grains and natural sweeteners like honey, agave, dates and maple syrup instead of refined sugar.

11. Do you deliver low carb, zone diet, or paleo meals?

No. We believe in balanced and healthy eating. Healthy eating is a lifestyle, not a temporary effort. Though we understand diets can help attain a short term goal, we are interested in health, which is a long term goal. Join us and see what our healthy food can do for you.

12. Are your meals gluten free?

Some. But we do not cater specifically to that. Our descriptions tell you what is in the meal and if you know one of the ingredients has gluten, then skip over it. Many are gluten free though! We notice the need for gluten free meals and will be expanding our menus to include a full gluten free menu in the near future.

13. Do you deliver dinner?

We do not currently deliver dinners, but do look forward to expanding our service to include that in the future.

14. Why eat vegetarian?

An excess in animal protein consumption and processed foods are the factor single handedly most responsible for the following health issues: Obesity, Heart Disease, Diabetes, Cancer, Stroke, Osteoporosis, Allergies, Alzheimer's Disease and Kidney Disease. Adopting a diet which is whole-food and plant based (recent studies show that no more than 5% of our diet should be animal protein) is the solution to all of these issues.

Vegetarian meals help the body lose weight allowing it to find its way back to its correct BMI (body mass index). Vegetarian meals have lower cholesterol. In varied vegetarian meals you get all the protein you need. The myth that you need animal protein to get the complete set of proteins is false. In our western diet we are actually getting too much protein, which is unhealthy.

Well prepared vegetarian meals are delicious!

15. What days are you open?

We deliver lunches Monday - Friday.

16. Can I order more than one lunch?

Yes. Just let us know how many you need. Our one click order form has a field where you can select how many lunches you would like to order.

17. If I order do I automatically get your daily emails?

No. We do not believe in spam. You only get our daily emails if you sign up for the list.

The Special Miami Catering

18. Where are you located?

We are a delivery only company. For the moment we do not have a restaurant where you can come in and eat. We do hope to open a restaurant soon as we know Miami needs more vegetarian restaurants.

19. Why are you called The Special?

The idea comes from having one dish each day. That is, "The Special" for today, and since that is all we do, we thought we'd just call it so.

20. Do you cater events?

Yes! Usually for 20 people or more our price range is between $16 - $30 per person depending on the menu selected, how many courses and whether drinks are included.
